The link wording alone was enough to give me pause, but I'm glad I read it and a thanks to you for sharing.

I think Brand is right on about this > ...perhaps that Thatcher died as she sobbed self-pitying tears as she was driven, defeated, from Downing Street, ousted by her own party.

And while I do not know if her aloneness in old age (which Brand captured well) isn't how many elderly folks feel, as what is and who are their contemporaries becomes the past and fades away, Maggie does have some of the flavor of Nixon walking alone on the beach at San Clemente (in his loafers). Most of our endings are (if we make it that far), and will be, rather sad and feeble efforts in comparison to what we had been before.

It will be interesting to see how historians treat her in a generation or two. RIP Maggie.
